Faith in Humanity

Fri May 30, 2008, 7:27 PM
So after posting a comment on a secret in =DeviantArtSecret, it was suggested to me by =FireDitto to post my top ten reasons for the faith in humanity that I tally in my signature. These acts range from someone who helps a stranger up on the street to the result of a collective attitude or action.

Well, as that signature would be incredibly long, I decided to post those top ten here and link to them in my signature.

Arranged in the order of impact they had on me. They do overlap. I can't possibly rank them accurately, being what they are. I'll update this if something comes up deserving another spot.

10 - The toy collection that showed up at a disabled child's house after his toys were stolen when a car was broken into

9 - The non-gay people that participate in the Day of Silence and those allies that support in other ways

8- The current Pope's participation in a religious debate between leaders of different faiths upon his arrival in the United States

7- The fact that Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, two people I believe sincerely deserve success, are successful

6-The women in my life from a little place in the mountains that never cease to encourage me and help me have confidence in myself.

5- My art teacher spending an entire class period telling each and every person in the room how they had impacted his life.

4 - Almost the entire marching band at my school volunteering to give a parade to a single man who had done so much good for us over the years as he walked into his last school board meeting on a cold, windy Thursday night

3- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, something that was unimaginable only several decades ago

2- The way my school pulled together when a student took his own life last December. For a day or two, the teacher-student and student-student barriers were completely torn down.

1 - The woman at my veterinary clinic who walked over to the desk and offered to pay for the medicine a stranger's cat needed when he said he couldn't afford it,

Some of those really are great reasons... If only they happened more often, huh?

That'd be nice but I still get a little happier every time they do.

This just made me all warm and fuzzy inside. :) ESPECIALLY #4, because the other ones are sort of general, alot of people could think that, but that was one specific amazing act of kindness. :D I hope more things like that keep happening!

So do I. I loved that one too. The ones that are specific seem so clear. I wish I could remember more of them. Thanks for reading ; )
